Hello, Ouray Climbers! We are excited to introduce our first ultimate summer ticklist challenge. Climbers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate and send as many routes as possible around Ouray County during the month of August.
WHAT: Climb as you would normally would and tick record your successful sends during the month of August. Climbs will be scored according to their difficulty with bonus points for lead, flash and onsight. Toproping is allowed but you will receive fewer points. Only climbs within Ouray County will be counted. This is an individual comp, so we hope you are nice to your belayer(s).
WHEN: Month of August. We will send you a link (code) to an app with a free subscription for the month of August. You are welcome to start the competition anytime during month of August, but all climbs should be completed by September 1.
CATEGORIES: climbers can pick which category they wish to challenge themselves in: 5.10 and below (any climbs up to 5.10+ or 5.10d) and 5.11 and above (any climbs 5.11-(or 11a) and above). For example, say if you are a 5.9 leader, you can tick off most 5.9s and below around the county and also try to redpoint and/or top rope 5.10s. Or if you are a 5.12 climber, you could warm up on 5.11s, redpoint 5.12s and maybe work hard 5.12s or 13s in the meantime. In other words your regular, climbing program but with possibility to win a trophy belt buckle.
REGISTRATION: there are no entry fees, but we ask you to sign up, by filling this form. We will email you further instructions on how to track your climbs.
WINNERS will be announced at our fall event on October 1, 2023.
