SUMMARY:Online Silent Auction 2021
DESCRIPTION:This is our annual fundraising and membership drive event. We get the bulk of our annual funding through our silent auction at the OuROCK! 2021. \nNew this year\, we are raising funds to install an informational/memorial kiosk at Rotary Park in Ouray to honor our friend and long-time member Mason Stansfield. The kiosk will provide educational information to climbers and will also feature anchors so they could practice anchors and cleaning safely on the ground. Mason’s parents graciously donated his gear for this purpose (most of it brand new and never used). All items benefiting Mason’s Fund will be marked as MSF. \nThe rest of the auction items were donated by our sponsors and supporters and will go to our general programs driven by our members such as hardware replacement\, stewardship and education programs. \nThe auction will start on September 1 at 8:00am and will close on September 8 at 10:00pm. Please click on the link below to participate. HAPPY BIDDING! \n\nhttps://www.32auctions.com/OuROCK2021

SUMMARY:OuRock! (Pronounced "You Rock!") Festival
DESCRIPTION:Ouray Climbers Alliance Annual Fundraiser and Community Event\, featuring:\n\n\n \n\n\nThe original Stonemaster\, author\, adventurer John Long with the recap of Misty Wall. To quote Derek W. Franz of Alpinist Magazine: “There are some old aid lines in Yosemite Valley that have potential to become some of the best free climbs around. These projects have been neglected for 20 years or more\, but John Long hasn’t forgotten about them. Long is a well-known climbing author who is also famous for his list of Yosemite firsts\, such as the first one-day ascent of the Nose (VI 3\,000′) on El Capitan with Jim Bridwell and Billy Westbay in 1975\, and the first free ascent of Astroman (IV 5.11c) on Washington Column with Ron Kauk and John Bachar that same year. As an elder of this group\, Bridwell was a mentor to Long and his peers\, who called themselves the Stonemasters\, and “the Bird” would sometimes point the band of young hotshots toward routes that were destined to become classics. Now\, Long is giving the new generation of top climbers a nudge up the walls through the Legacy Restoration Project.” Presented by ADIDAS Terrex.\n\n\n \n\n\n9:00 AM Yoga by Ouray Yoga (certified yoga instructor with a degree in kinesiology Marcy Wood) suitable for all levels at the KJ Wood Distillery FREE (mats are available to rent).\n\n\n \n\n\n2:00 PM OURAY OPEN Climbing Competition at the Rotary Park (if it rains\, the venue will be at the Ridgway Community Climbing Wall indoors). SUMMARY:Rocktoberfest - OCA's Kickoff Party
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Fall with Ouray Climbers Alliance! \nCome learn about our local climbing organization\, an affiliate of the Access Fund. Meet our members\, join the team\, learn about future stewardship programs around Ouray County. The event is FREE and OPEN to all. \nFREE Food\, Raffle on great climbing gear\, Climbing Contests and a Slideshow. \nOURAY OPEN Climbing Competition open to all ages and abilities. Climb as many routes as you can clean without falling. Win prizes. There is no entry fee for the competition. Climbers are responsible for bringing their own gear. \nFeaturing “Holy Grail of Alpinism” Slideshow by Jim Donini: \n In 1978 American rock climbers George and Jeff Lowe\, Michael Kennedy and Jim Donini attempted to climb the North Ridge of Latok 1. They had to turn back 100 meters from the summit\, hampered by two major storms and other difficulties. In the 38 years since\, at least 27 teams of world-class climbers have followed in their footsteps. None got closer than 2\,000 feet from the summit. Last August George Lowe and Jim Donini went back to Latok—this time with Thom Englebach and Thomas Huber and his German partners\, hoping to reach the pinnacle.
